Oil Analysis

Start with a question about a specific component: routine monitoring, an unusual result or an evaluation of the maintenance plan. Oil analysis provides information to interpret alongside the machine’s operating history; it does not replace inspections or the equipment manufacturer’s requirements.

Prepare an identifiable sample

Follow the laboratory’s current kit instructions. Record the machine and component, lubricant identity, time on the oil, total equipment time and any recent top-up or service. Keep the sample identified consistently so later reports can be compared with the correct history. Ask the laboratory about the right test package and collection method before taking a sample.

Results should be reviewed with the laboratory’s guidance and the equipment’s condition. A single report is not a universal authorization to extend service. Different fluids and questions can require different tests.

Commercial oil analysis

AMSOIL lists separate commercial programs for failure analysis, maintenance improvement and drain-interval improvement. Identify the component and purpose first, then review the current kit contents, eligibility and shipping arrangements on the official product page.

Commercial kit purposes checked against AMSOIL’s published listings. Confirm current requirements and availability before ordering.
